The national audit document for the procurement and distribution of medicines is a very useful paper for establishing the performance of your Trusts service.
The document contains many performance indicators and standards which enables both the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and distribution services to be measured either internally; "comparing different time periods of the same organisation" or externally; "comparing services between different Trusts".
The questions raised will enable managers to assess the quality of their own service and demonstrates their ability to satisfy patient demand for the supply of critical medicines. It does not contain any specific data with respect to discounts, contract or savings.
